Justified season 5 finale

I know I posted way too much today, but I just have to react to this finale.

Oh show! The thing about Justified is that it never has an off season.  The writing is still as snappy as ever.  The characters are still so evil and yet charming.  The bad guys still fall hard.  The good guys are still often hard to tell from the bad. I heard the reviewer on NPR say it's one of the least appreciated shows even though it deserves high honors. I have to agree.   It's easily one of the smartest shows on television.

So I finished season five and WOW.  I'm extra excited for season six now that I know the focus is taking down Boyd.  It seems the authors plan is to take the show in full circle and give us a satisfying conclusion.  Ava turning spy on Boyd is going to be heartbreaking because much as Boyd is a horrible man, I also like his charm and I completely adore the Ava/Boyd relationship.  It just kills me how she's so easy to turn on him after everything he did for her (even though he failed on getting her out).

Raylan is such an interesting character.  Sometimes I love him and other times I can't wait for them to throw him in prison.  I really hope they aren't going to kill him at the end of the series but rather do let him go to Florida to see his kid.  He deserves some happiness as much as he deserves a swift kick in the rear.

I think what surprised me the most at the end of this finale was how he just stood back and watched as Darryl's sister kills Darryl in self defense.  Raylan could have stopped it.  No one needed to die in that scene. It seems the more time Raylan spends in Kentucky, the more time he spends spiraling down a dark path.  I fear what he could become next season.

For all the bad Raylan does, however, he manages a lot of good.  This is the second season we've seen him do everything in his power to save a kid from their terrible lives.  For all that he does wrong, he has a moral code he does follow even if it isn't always the moral code we would expect.

I can't wait to watch season six.  I rarely trust the powers that be to end shows well but I suspect Justified will prove an exception.
By the way, I finally saw the premier of Agent Carter.  Just a short reaction here:

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!  She is awesome and a great female character.  It was good fun and snappy.  Very much looking forward to the next episode.
