If it was no pressure to produce anything or to read things others have written if it's really not your thing (for me, if someone wrote horror or romance come immediately to mind), so you can read what you want and write when you feel able, then yes, this might be a good thing to try out.

My problem is that I'm very much not into romantic relationships (whether M/F, F/F, M/M or any other combination), and that can be a problem in certain groups, as people make assumptions that aren't true. Especially if I make an exception (possibly an author I particularly like, or the romance is very low key), and then get panned for not reading everything in that genre. So I say yes, but it would depend on the people in the group I guess. I've been burned before, so it makes me cautious now.
