Writing

 Well, I did it.   I wrote fanfic last night for the first time in 5 years. I don’t think it’s good but I think the gems will come out in the editing. It does build on a story I wrote a long time ago so half of it was at least there for me.  Years ago I wrote Rodney’s perspective but this time I’m interested in adding in John’s. I want to dig into his inner turmoil from Miller’s Crossing but to also show that the turmoil isn’t the turmoil Rodney is expecting. It’s not John convincing a man to kill himself because that’s not something John will really feel he needs to face. It’s more that Rodney somehow actually thought John would go along with his self-sacrifice plan enough to tell him about it. Because Rodney should have known John would go to any length to foil Rodney’s plan.

The trouble is I am out of practice and the writing is clumsy. It needs so much editing and refining. I’m almost scared to put it out.

The good news is I have a beta for it that is currently active in the fandom.  However they are more of copy editor style beta than a content beta. I was very spoiled in my early SGA days to have Sholio beta for me and help me better my writing skills. I am also a little lost how the fandom still exists, but I’m not complaining.  

I think it was Good Omens and the idea of ineffable husbands that finally pushed me to write the fic. The me of 20 years ago would be very confused.
