Dec. 6th, 2023 07:54 amToday is surgery day and my mom is also in the hospital. It's all a lot right now. Thank goodness for fandom. The discord server for SGA has been such a refuge for me. I'm loving seeng the same names kudos and comment that I also talk to in the server. I love watching episodes with everyone on Sundays.
I feel so supported and part of a bigger group. It's been really special and I'm so excited I came back to fandom at a time I could be part of this.
I joined Tumblr finally despite being a decade late. It’s not as intimidating as it seemed back then and thanks to my discord friends, I’m mutually following several people already. I’m sgatazmy there if you want to add me.
Fic wise:
My latest three new fics went over well. I entered lots of stuff into the SGA fanart only discord server birthday bash! Check out all the bash fics if you get a chance because they are so amazing.
Chucks Intergalactic Delivery Service and Confessional, a 5+1 fic.
This one was co-authored in person over tea laughing so hard I could barely breathe. My co-author is a brilliant writer who really took what I'd done and brought it to life with so many puns and so much humor. I loved getting to write with someone IN PERSON!
It has existential pizza musings, smuggling Todd through the gate for karaoke, Rodney’s cat, and so much more. My favorite line is when McKay eyes a huge ziplock of Ronon's stash and asks, "When exactly did we become drug smugglers?" Or maybe it was when Todd explained he'd be singing "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" (credit to my discord friends for song choice). A true joy to write. I’ll have to give my co-author all the credit for the many puns and whimsical writings.
It has just one tiny line of McShep but a lot of references to drugs/sex toys and anything else Chuck is asked to bring through the gate. If you read any of my stories, this would be the one. Someone on Tumblr described it as "The Chuck and Walter working together fic that they never realized they needed" or something along those lines.
Operation Retrieve John's Heart
This is 100% McShep and super short. Two chapters, each 200 words each. The first one is a gut punch and the second one is the happy resolution. For such a short fic, it seems to have really captured people's attention. I was told it's like a 10k word fairy tale with as strong a punch but packed into a speed run. I made a podfic for it as well and cover art (on the podfic page)! My first time doing all three.

This continues to go over surprisingly well given it has Jennifer and Rodney relationship and a suicidal Rodney who doesn’t want to admit he is suicidal. I've been really happy that people think I've handled the content well so far and wrote it in a realistic, heartfelt way that wasn't too much either direction. One of my few poly stories but I’m leaning to Rodney/John/Jennifer as my favorite relationship.
Oh, I also did podfics for my old story Empty Stars (gen, post The Storm/The Eye) and Do Not Open (McShep, post Miller's Crossing)
Just two more hours until I check in for surgery. Eeek.
