I got two more fic gifts recently that weren't due to any exchanges. Just written for me just because. I LOVE that.

Can We Agree that Duels are Dumb and Immature? by Anonymous. This story is gen, no relationship.

When an Earl whose lands the Team is staying on gets a stick up his butt over who's the smarter star guy, he demands a duel with Rodney. The only problem with that is, Rodney doesn't exactly know how to fight a duel. Lucky for him, Ronon does.

This fic is so wonderful and the author somehow wrote it all at once! I mentioned that Ronon would make a wonderful musketeer and I want a duel with swords where Ronon defends Rodney's honor. So this author delivered!

If Boys Don't Cry (Where These Tears Supposed to Go) by McRaider, story is gen, no relationship, or can easily be seen as pre-ship McShep if you prefer.

When the stress catches up with Rodney, John is there to pick up the pieces.

This fic is a companion piece to WonkyElk's Hold Me While I Break which I recently podfic'd. McRaider gives us this wonderful story with John's point of view of Rodney's breakdown.

Now that I have time to write, my brain seems frozen. I've posted a few little things here and there, but I definitely feel myself slowing down. Which sucks because once work starts again, I won't be able to write. And I have so many ideas.

I have managed a few things, however:

(gen) Unlikely Sympathies is just insane. Kolya & Rodney frenemy fic...seriously! They bond over infuriating tech. wonkyelk even made art when we first discussed this idea and then let me incorporate it into the story itself.

(McShep, nc-17) I wrote a sequel to Festering Wounds, Hurting Souls, Loving Hearts. But here's the thing....It's um....explicit. And if you know me, you know that's odd and unexpected. Ever since I wrote the first story, which I call Lemons for short, I'd felt it needed something more intimate. I just never felt I could write that or really wanted to. But my muse disagreed. But, this being me, I don't write explicit just for explicit sake. I always have to say something or to add humor or be different somehow. So this one is more awkward and humorous than hot and I have no apologies for that. I like how it turned out. It's one of those both of them are completely new at this and have no clue what they are doing. Not Entirely Clueless: The McShep Guide to Your First Time.

(some gen, some McShep, Stop Talking! is poly) I am writing a sequel series of one-shots to Stop Talking! called All the Ways Rodney's Team Cares for Him. The goal here is to only write for me and not worry about taking it too seriously. So these are less beta'd (if at all) and just about getting my thoughts out. In Stop Talking! Rodney admitted to the fact he not only had suicidal thoughts and ideation, he had gotten close a few times to seeing it through. So now in this new series we see Rodney temporarily stepping down from Head of Science and trying to heal with the help of his team. There are two stories so far
- (gen) Chapter 1: Lunch - Every day Ronon takes Rodney to lunch.
- (McShep lite, easily seen as gen but smarmy) Chapter 2: Cuddles: Rodney doesn't show up to dinner so John checks in on him.

(Problematic McShep) I finished Bottled Up Lightning. Definitely a story that's not for everyone, but I'm proud of it. This explores what happens when someone (John) tries to fix his panic attack by drinking. Answer: It just perpetuates the problem and he spends 5/6 of the fic in a panic attack with destructive and hurtful behavior. Glasses Marine (seen in the background of many eps) helps Rodney and John work things out in the end. But not before Rodney has his own panic response. It's angst/drama/whump and definitely different. As I said, not for everyone. Some might claim (and have) that the only happy ending would be for them not to be together but I disagree. People can temporarily be problematic and come back from that. Most of this was me processing my own experiences with emotional manipulation. From that one, there was no going back. So with fanfic, I wanted to imagine if there was a situation where it could be resolved. Most people do seem to like it, at least, which actually surprised me.

Today is the 20th anniversary of SGA!!!!!!!

In celebration, I am doing Bingo for the first time. I filled in the spot “The Test of Time” with a completely ludicrous story not to be taken seeiously. Kolya and Rodney bonding over infuriating Ancient tech. Inspired by that 8 hour wait with Disney where I had to keep pressing yes for it not to hang up

Reminder, Kolyaaa is posting Stuck! again and it is so good. It’s about halfway through and it’s extra fun to interact with the author. I just finished chapter 11 and the way this has developed with Rodney so frustrated by his age 5 child’s pudgy short hands and everyone treating him like a child just because he’s trapped in a child’s body….it’s just so good and sweet! I especially love this not-quite-a-child version of him stuck in an Ancient nursery with all the Ancient toys. It’s really clever and fun!

Who is back, migrating their story to AO3 with NEW author notes? Why, Kolyaaa! Only
his great power could not be retained in three As and he now requires a fourth. So it is Kolyaaaa now.

NotTasha posted a NEW gen sga fic and it’s so cool! In fact, I really want to write something inspired by this.

We have:

Rodney as a pseudo ghost hanging out with the ghosts of Atlantis such as Dumais!

Rodney’s neurodivergence and self-worth issues

Clever world building and fun characters

A sweet story that made me both laugh and also want to hug Rodney so tightly and tell him how loved and amazing he is

An engaging and fun plot

It was sunny out and a weekend so my good friend/neighbor came over and we wrote under the porch umbrella and it felt magical.

I managed to crank out most of a story in one go. Then I edited it up and sent it to Cass. She said the words I have always wanted to hear…

”You know what would really help bring this moment together? If Rodney tries to punch John.”

And anyone who knows me or hears me go on whether here or discord, knows how much I have wanted to write that. I have tried but John always thwarts my attempts. See, if it ever happens it has to be that they are still friends and protective of one another and just in a bad place where they aren’t thinking straight.

So I decide to reorder the entire fic and make it happen. And can I tell you how happy it makes me? Does that make me a bad person?

So here is the fic. Takes place in season four but with Carson because I wanted Carson.
