Two things:

(1) NotTasha wrote a new story! And it’s soooooo good. I am seriously so excited seeing faces from fandom of old sticking their heads back in. I’ve heard from a few others that they are also writing some new stuff.

The new work is a sequel to another story and both are so good. We’re talking Rodney and music. Rodney with kids. Rodney with trauma. Like…..Gaaaaaah

(2) I found this old story of mine that I lightly revised and migrated. This one is also gen (no relationship). I love how it’s Rodney in the infirmary but a quiet tone. He has a fever and feels awful, but there’s no crisis feel to any of it. Nurse Cindy sits with him while his team is away on a rescue mission. Meanwhile, one of his scientists is traumatized and considering resigning.

I posted three stories recently but two of them are for exchanges and are anonymous until revealed. One is gen and one is not.

One story revealed a few days ago. I wrote complete and absolute lunacy! As in…ludicrous. Bonkers. Wacko. I wrote: A fic about a mini demon trapped in Elizabeth's room that burps out Stargates and also farts a lot. It’s completely ridiculous. My friend already made a podfic for it but it hasn’t been posted yet.

I haven’t slept well in 11 days. Many nights I am only asleep for 1-2 hours at a time. It feels like torture and I want to cry.

But I am now 20,000 words into my fic and I think I see the end….I hope.

This fic is so heavy, too. I feel like Rodney is writing it for me and when he gets to the part where he has to explain why he is struggling, I just about lost it. I cries so hard for him.

I realized this fic is my response to all the shortcomings in the show from making jokes of things that really aren’t jokes to dark, immoral answers that are just not okay (spacing Elizabeth!). My side characters keep telling me they have something to say, and now there are awkward side passages that should feel awkward because it’s hard to be on the side when someone is really hurting and you just don’t know how to help.

So I set out to write something funny and Rodney said: No, it’s actually trauma.

When I wrote chapter 1 I tried so hard to keep deleting the darkest undertones but Rodney said no. He had something to say and it would not be deleted.

I can’t wait for this to be done.

I did it! This is finally done and I’m really hoping people will read it, more than I’ve hoped for any other fic in my life. I spent months revising and making better this old humor fic of mine that features a monster turtle, merpeople, and an insanity virus. It used to be a well-loved series (for me) and now it’s a single cohesive whole as one story with a NEW epilogue full of McShep feelings realization.

Want Rodney as a mad scientist attacking Marines with mini robots? Or what about a new pet turtle causing havoc all over the city?

I worked so hard on this and would love to share the squee with anyone else who might enjoy it. it is first person (which I never write), but I hope you’ll give it a chance anyway.

First, an old fic of mine just got rec’d in stargateficrec which made me all kinds of happy. Her Brother the Hero is one of my favorite fics of mine that shows Jeannie realizing Rodney isn’t just in a lab, he’s actually in the field fighting the monsters.

Second, I went through three drafts fixing an old story of mine, Exhaustion. It was so hard and daunting. With the help of an amazing beta, I am really learning where my story telling falls short and how to fix that. I am getting more confident and my stories are definitely better for it.

Third, I really want a podfic of my story Of Steel and Blood but I don’t want to do it myself. I wish there was a place you could go to request someone make a podfic.

Fourth, it hasn’t been posted yet, but someone did make a podfic of my story Butter Never Bleeds and it was sooo good! I will post a link once they’ve made the AO3 post. I am so excited!

Fifth, puddlejumperpilot made me a McDex fic and it was soooooo good!!!! Rodney protective of Ronon! I Could See Myself Dying for You.

Okay, I will admit that I remembered nothing of Submersion before I watched the episode again. I was wary because any of these "horror" episodes I have a hard time seeing what is happening on the screen and I usually get bored. They usually are fun stories if in book form, but they just don't do it for me on the screen.

So imagine my surprise when I LOVED so much of this episode. Sure, I really didn't care for the Wraith plot, but there were so many precious moments here:

1. Grayden! I love this guy. I wish they hadn't killed him because he was comedy gold. Tactless Rodney told him he hired the wrong guy and then the other scientist following up with "He's a really good scientist. I'm surprised Mckay didn't hire him." I just about died laughing. So now I need to know if we ever see Grayson in the series or if anyone has ever included him in fanfic. I'd actually love to read a fanfic with Grayden coming to Atlantis! Or even better, here's a tag written on the fly:

2. I think every post-season 3 fanfic I write must have Grayson in it now. Also, I now have a mental image of Miko or Katie Brown or other more timid scientists having to fire their weapons at an invading enemy.

3. I really liked where Teyla managed to come out of her trance just to realize someone is tracking her. She turns around, aims her weapon, and there is Sheppard and Ronon aiming theirs at her and telling her to drop her weapon. I just love scenes like this!

4. I'm quickly forgetting whatever else I liked of this episode. I know I should have written it all down the first time. I remember liking how they're all annoyed at staying on the station for a few more days because there is still research to do. How awesome to win the day but to still have work to do. Poor Ronon, Sheppard, and Teyla.

5. I am currently teaching exponential growth in my classes. Thanks to this tag, I now want (but will not) to ask a question such as:

In 2005 the number of scientists on Atlantis was 200. By the end of the year, only 125 scientists remained. Find the average percent decay rate per week for the population of scientists on Atlantis in 2005.

I posted it on LJ but didn't manage to cross post here until now. I'm working on writing new SGA fic after all this time. I'm still working up to where I was back when I wrote my favorites (John and Rodney's Mainland Adventure, Christmas Past, etc.) but I'm managing a few fics here and there.

Rodney returns to Earth in order to avoid a complete mental breakdown. John tags along. Madison draws him pictures to help him feel better.

John wants the team to go to Disneyland. Rodney is horrified at the suggestion. In the second chapter: Ronon and Rodney manage to get themselves arrested at Disneyland.

Of Steel and Blood
Rodney isn't faring so well after the events of the Hive so John steps in to help him to the infirmary.
Note: I did this in about 20 different drafts. The last draft was vastly superior to the first.

I am very proud of the writing in this story and I worked extra hard on the descriptions. I feel that this may be one of my more quality pieces as far as word choice and descriptions.

Description: Some time after Phantoms and Sunday, nightmares plague Rodney. Unable to sleep and seeing zombies everywhere, he returns to Earth with John in tow. Madison draws pictures to help him feel better and even gives him a lovey. It's a story about recharging that takes place with a Halloween backdrop. (This story is illustrated by a 4-year-old.)

So last night a ton of people came over to out house for our monthly game night. We decided to play a game called Domain, only the one person reading the directions forgot a key piece...money. The game was horribly unbalanced if not a hilarious farce. Imagine, if you will, Monopoly without paying to buy a property. Socialized Monopoly, perhaps? Just think about that for a moment...

You can imagine that this revelation was quickly followed by tons of outright cheating and craziness. At one point I grabbed the pile of cards we were supposed to draw blindly from and just grabbed whatever I felt like.

I decided I needed to write crack!fic involving Monopoly. Alas, my muse did not cooperate. Instead it gave me light hurt comfort. Hmmmph. At least the h/c was mild.
