I'm starting to feel I just come here to rant (or rave) about the morals in a kids show. I can't help myself. As usual, this post will assume you don't know much about My Little Pony because I'm assuming no one here does.
I just watched the season five episode of My Little Pony titled "Tanks for the Memories" and I immediately had to find out if other fans had the same reaction I did. Amazingly, it seems almost everyone did: The My Little Pony universe apparently doesn't view eco-terrorism as a serious crime? I mean, really????? How does this show keep managing to bring up these questions in the first place?
First, the episode is fantastic and the moral is actually sound it's just some of the stuff swept under the rug that leaves me unsettled. The episode starts with Rainbow Dash finding out her pet has to go into hibernation for the winter and Dash is devastated. The episode is clearly supposed to be about grief and loss without actually having someone die. I have to give kudos to the writers for playing this well and honest with all the stages of grief portrayed in the episode for kids to see. I know some kids that just lost their dad and I think an episode like this could really help them.
Second, this episode has Rainbow Dash having a complete and total mental breakdown and destroying a lot of public property.
