A glimpse of the past
Mar. 10th, 2020 06:20 pmShuffling through my old stories and stories I’ve enjoyed reading is like opening a time capsule. I can see my growth both as a writer and as a person. I cringe at some of the cliches and smile at many of the hidden gems.
Notably, one story I used to hate is now my favorite. It captures a moment in time where my eldest was so little yet full of wisdom. The descriptions are beautiful and real. I think I have read that story three times now in the last two days and each time I smile brightly.
I never thought of fanfiction as a journal, especially because I despise self-insertion fics, but I can see how each story contains the thoughts, wonders, dreams, and perceptions of a previous me. What a wonderful gift it is to go back and see.
I am going to start moving fics I love but forgot to AO3 so I can find them next time.
So how are you all? It’s been a while.
