Shrine, Intruder, Runner

sgatazmySo yesterday I managed all of 150 words instead of 500-1000. Not the best start. I did, however, get a lot of plotting down so I don't feel like I was unproductive.
I rewatched The Shrine last night.
I forgot how amazing the acting was in this one. David Hewlett completely pulls it off and right now having a grandmother with Alzheimers I just about died watching this. I found it interesting how the team wanted Rodney back for that day and believed Rodney would want that when in reality he had said his goodbyes. It was only Jennifer who understood it would be torture for him. As much as the McKeller dynamic had problems in season five, this episode actually showed her understanding Rodney in a way that his team just didn't. I completely understood how Rodney felt. If I was going through that I think I would feel the same way. I also love how Rodney seemed to get that after a while and decided to make the best of it for his team by asking if there was an itinerary.
I was, however, annoyed that Jennifer didn't want to go to the planet to at least check out why it worked. I get that she didn't want Rodney to die and she didn't want to give up on him, but if Ronon's tales had any basis then it was worth checking out. She should have known that any possibility of a cure would be on this planet. Even as I was annoyed, I still believed how they wrote the character. As a doctor, she would cling more to her version of medicine. She was just too afraid of allowing Rodney to die without her working up to the last moment to save him.
I was also so excited for them to bring Rodney's sister with them! If she didn't have a husband and kid, I could imagine her eventually joining Atlantis. It would be wonderful if she could bring them there but I can't imagine that she would.
Oh, and they cut into Rodney's skull with a power drill on an alien planet. Whoa!!!! That is just....crazy talk. Complete crazy talk. I love it! I wonder how many tags there are out there on that fall out. There is no way he could recover from that quickly and easily.
It seems to be there are so many possibilities for missing scenes on this one. They don't show much on the progression of Rodney's decay at first from the team's point of view. Anyone have any recommendations for good missing scene fics here? The only one I've read so far is one of Sholio's tags.
I also saw The Intruder and Runner as I am watching season two in order with my housemate (and because I really need to re-watch the whole series to write my story I'm working on).
I had forgotten most of both of these episodes. Since I'm running out of time to write here, a few thoughts:
In Intruder, the moment they flew near the sun we were both like "congratulations, you both have cancer" so in Runner when McKay is complaining about all the radiation he didn't sound quite so whiny.
Oh, and was this our first episode with Major Lorne? The McKay & Lorne dynamic is wonderful fun here. I wonder when McKay stops feeling so annoying to him?
The first time Ronon meets Rodney is when Rodney is hanging upside down from the tree. There must be some missing scene fics out there that fill in the moment directly afterward?
If anyone wants to join me in re-watching, I should be watching Duet tonight.
