The 10th task pair asks: "Draw a pony learning a new skill // Draw a pony with their nose to the grindstone". Well, Celestia has time on her hooves and is a lousy thespian. She could learn to be a mime.

As always, draw (or sculpt or do a photo-montage), host the image of what you made in an online gallery and drop the URL into the submission form here, eventually. King Grimlock forgot to make a submission form for prompt 10. When it finally emerges it'll be the usual: you will be able to enter five different images per prompt. The maximum resolution is 2000x2000 pixels, so chose a link from your gallery that points to a version of your image that does not exceed 2,000 pixels on either side. Also, don't exceed 4 Mb per picture or the poniloader will plotz and choke on your picture. MLPforums and Discord work as image hosts in a pinch, although I think that there's an expiry date on those options. Xitter works somehow, it looks like Mastodon does, probably Bluesky as well, if you're savvy and Imgur apparently works too. I use Flickr. The pictures will be visible on EqD along with the next task at 9 PM (MST) on June 20th. KG has stopped trying to make bespoke URLs so I'll paste the gallery URL when it appears.

So be sure to get your drawings in well before 9 PM Mountain Standard Time (or midnight Eastern Daylight Savings Time and 5 AM UTC). The grace period should give you at least two extra days and KG goes back to edit in the late submissions, usually around the same time he posts the next prompt. KG can and does change the close date on the submitter and keeps just two active at any given moment. I don't think there will be any late submission catch-up days in this NATG.

Off topic submissions, more than was usual in past years, are showing up in the gallery. That's because King Grimlock is also posting what Calpain is prompting on Bluesky in his fringe NATG and people have been hybridizing this NATG with it. Calpain's prompts today are pony at the beach / pony catching some sun. Well, these are more reasonable than KG's asks.

Why This Must Be Read: This a delicious, very tropey AMTDI/Aphrodisiac fic, where the aliens have decided Rodney needs to have his way with John for trade relations, so they've drugged Rodney and tied John down in a lush bedroom. Yes, it's non-con or at least dub-con, but as they both want each other it's in the usual PWP tradition. Eliade is a gorgeous writer and the story's deliciously erotic, sensual, and super hot. Rodney, stoned and vaguely accusatory, edges John mercilessly, and John's turned on but increasingly frustrated POV is highly amusing. A classic romp in the genre.

Why This Must Be Read: This is an episode tag to Home, the one with the sentient mist. After they get back to Atlantis Rodney asks John what was going on with his weird dead friends party, and John thinks about, but doesn't fess up to, a missing scene in which he found Rodney waiting for him in the bathroom at the bachelor pad. Eventually, Rodney shares his own mist-induced fantasies, and all's well. It's a fun might-have-been missing scene for the episode. There's great characterization, and it's hot and cleverly written.

I enjoy reading golden age detective fiction, fantasy, romance and historical non-fiction. I've written a small number of fics but am trying to get out of a block and write some more.

I've been a long time but mostly lurky presence in fannish spaces since the early 2000s, and can also be found as zan77 on tumblr

King Grimlock is trotting out the tired writting prompt idioms. At least it's not a walk/run idiom. This time the task is to: "Draw a pony taking a leap of faith // Draw a pony jumping to conclusions". So, who's this suicide pony named "Faith"? Why dron't they just bridge the gap to the town of Conclusions?

As always, draw (or sculpt or do a photo-montage), host the image of what you made in an online gallery and drop the URL into the submission form here, it's live. King Grimlock does not specifying the prompt in the submitter, but otherwise it's the usual: you can enter five different images per prompt. So be sure to get your drawings in well before 9 PM Mountain Standard Time (or midnight Eastern Daylight Savings Time and 5 AM UTC). The time before last King Grimlock was at least an hour early taking what had been submitted so far and compiling it into the gallery posted with the next prompt announcement. I missed that deadline. But the grace period is at least two extra days and KG goes back to edit in the late submissions, usually around the same time he posts the next prompt. This time the submitter isn't set to close for prompt 6 until June 14th and the grace period will probably end then, when KG posts prompt 8. That's the pattern at the moment.

Returning home after leaving his grandfather with the giant aliens, Daniel is fine.

Why This Must Be Read:

This is a Daniel-centric fic, primarily dealing with the SG-1 episode "The Crystal Skull" where Nick stays with the aliens.

Daniel is 'fine' -- for a certain value of fine. It takes Jack to assure Daniel that he won't always be left behind.

Why This Must Be Read: Set in Episode: s07e02 Homecoming, this fic is a somber missing scene between a newly-returned Daniel and Teal'c. It's a quiet moment and beautifully done.

Would you believe, the 5th prompt requests: "Draw a pony sprinting // Draw a pony running for their lives". We're still stuck at prompt 2, pony on the move and walking the walk! The record is skipping something fierce. Run to the hills, it's Iron Maiden!

As always, draw (or sculpt or do a photo-montage), host the image of what you made in an online gallery and drop the URL into the submission form here, it's live. I think KG isn't taking notes, he's back to using the calendar date. I wouldn't put any money on my guess.

But the grace period is at least two extra days and KG goes back to edit in the late submissions, usually around the same time he posts the next prompt. This time the submitter isn't set to close for prompt 5 until June 13th, so this time the grace period could be 5 days past the deadline, but don't bet on it. The funny/brave face prompt submitter got closed suddenly last night, KG switched the close date from June 15 to June 7, causing it to close (but not dump my 'brave face' submission). I don't think there will be any late submission catch-up days in this NATG.

[personal profile] gimmighoulcoins posting in [community profile] addme_fandom
Name: Rascal
Pronouns: He/Him
Age Group: I'm in my early 30s - please only add me if you're 20 or older!
Country: USA
Subscription/Access Policy: Very general fandom posts are public, whereas things that are access only are probably more along the lines of "mini-essay pondering a bigger subject through the lens of fandom" or a fanwork idea I'm not quite sure about yet, but what to share to a degree.
What I chat about: Fandom and hobbies are probably what I'll most frequently chat about, but I also love getting analytical and waxing philosophical about life - often through looking at fandom things. I find it fun, and my shared reflections tend to be more neutral-to-positive. When it comes to fandom specifics, I love writing fanfic and AUs, and exploring ideas for those, and a character deep-dive is one of my favorite things! I also just like sharing the enthusiasm I have for my favorite things, fandom or otherwise.
I'm looking to connect with people who: Want to talk and share their enthusiasm, too! I'm a chatterbox who really wants to extend his fannish social circle - I'm a househusband who sometimes ends up with a lot of free time and I'd love to spend more of it engaging in fun talk! I'm also looking to connect with people who are open-minded and accepting, and not interested in anti culture or other fandom discourse.

Main Fandoms: Pokemon has been my forever fandom, ever since Pokemania hit the States. I kind of fell off in the GBA/early DS era (Emerald and Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, specifically) but got back into it in a big way since and have never left. I'm mainly into the games, but I have a lot of fondness for the early seasons of the anime, and I've really been enjoying the new Pokemon Horizons series? I'm really behind on it, though. My other main fandoms are Disney Duck canons - a lot of 'em, but I'm especially fond of the 2017 DuckTales reboot, Darkwing Duck, and the various comics - and Fraggle Rock, which I discovered well after its time but I love - and now it has a reboot, too, and I also love that!

Other Fandoms: Delicious in Dungeon, In Stars and Time, Steven Universe, Dimension 20's Fantasy High, The Muppets, Sonic the Hedgehog (games, the movies, and the IDW comics - though I'm super behind on the comics), Zeddy Zi's Ramshackle, Lilo & Stitch, Tangled, Ratatouille, and a lot of other animated movies... Oh! And Phineas and Ferb is back and ngl, I'm kinda losing my mind over that. Such a fun show, I love its themes of creativity
What I create for Fandom: Fanfic! And occasionally icons, but mostly fic. I've really been getting back into it lately.
Other Hobbies: Reading, bracelet weaving, Dungeons & Dragons... I'm starting to get into art and I'm trying to get into cooking as more a hobby than housework. I also love collecting! Currently, I collect bookmarks and merch of Meowth from Pokemon.

In celebration of the community being around for 500 weeks, we're gonna lean into it.  This means that for the next four weeks, we're going to ask you to think about the prompts "century" and/or "theory" and get a story written about one or both of the prompts, some artwork created, or a podfic with data that qualifies.

Century can be just about anything - literal or figurative.  Like maybe an SGA team goes to a planet that Athosians have said they have not been to in over a century.  Or maybe it's Rodney McKay coming up with a theoretical Ancient-influenced device that the SGA says will not be released for a hundred years.  Or maybe it's just someone waiting for a radio callback, and it feels like it's been 100 years since the team has checked in.

Then we have theory - and you know who has opinions about theory?  McKay, Katie Brown, David Parrish, Zelenka, and the rest of the scientific community on Atlantis.  Hell, maybe it's a rumor about some of the Marines that one of the scientists turns into a theory - that they need to prove themselves.

Whatever the case may be - If it's about "century" and/or "theory", you've got four weeks to get it created and posted to the community.

And....GO!

Title: Bottled Poetry
Author: [personal profile] brumeier
Challenge(s): horse/wine
Fandom(s): Stargate Atlantis
Pairing(s): John Sheppard/Rodney McKay, Jeannie Miller/Kaleb Miller
Wordcount: 8,937
Warning(s): mostly some fluff with mentions of past family dysfunction

Summary: Rodney didn’t know why he kept letting Jeannie talk him into these things - a blind date that spans several days and two countries, in a location without wifi or cell service, seems doomed to fail. But maybe the location, the unusual amount of downtime, and a handsome winemaker will turn things around.

Yes, I'm a day later than normal. But in my defense, I'm a bit tired, have an ear infection, and am possibly hosting a hangover. Or at least I think that's why my brain feels funny. Anyway, thank you to our three amazing authors for providing us with these fills!

If you are still working on something for "horse" and/or "wine", you've got until tonight to get it posted here to the collection. Otherwise, it'll have to wait for amnesty at the end of the year. Meanwhile, a new prompt is coming soon!

This time it's: "Draw a pony trotting // Draw a pony on a scenic walk ". It's like we're back to prompt 2, pony on the move and walking the walk. It's déjà vu all over again. I should draw a pony dragging a cut-out of a walking pony from the previous prompt.

As always, draw (or sculpt or do a photo-montage), host the image of what you made in an online gallery and drop the URL into the submission form here, it's live. King Grimlock is still not specifying a prompt there, but otherwise it's as expected: you can enter five different images per prompt. Xitter works somehow, it looks like Mastodon does, probably Bluesky as well. I use Flickr and Imgur is said to work too. The pictures will be visible on EqD along with the next task at 9 PM (MST) on June 8th. The URL pattern is changing each time but since I'm keen to guess, I think that it will end in -xv-prompt-5.html . Ha! no. It ended up being this: https://www.equestriadaily.com/2025/06/newbie-artist-training-grounds-xv_8.html . 8 for June 8th.

So be sure to get your drawings in well before 9 PM Mountain Standard Time (or midnight Eastern Daylight Savings Time and 5 AM UTC). Last time King Grimlock was at least an hour early taking what had been submitted so far and compiling it into the gallery posted with the next prompt announcement. I missed that deadline. Eventually KG will go back and edit in the late submissions, but it could be a while. The grace period is getting longer, the submitter isn't set to close for prompt 4 until June 25th! That's, like, 16 days past the deadline. I don't think there will be any late submission catch-up days in this NATG.

Off topic stuff is showing up in the gallery, apparently since King Grimlock also posts the current prompts Calpain is putting up on Bluesky. As a result, there is much romance in the mix.

Why This Must Be Read: it's Earth Christmastime, but on Atlantis it's mid-summer and the Australians have organized a barbeque. This is one of Mandysbitch's sweeter stories in which the boys get tipsy and end up in bed. It's hot and steamy, a nice slice-of-life, and soft-centered. Lovely writing, and a feelgood ending.
