SGA Rewatch: Broken Ties
Dec. 31st, 2014 12:04 amThis will be short because I need to go to bed. We just watched Broken Ties. I don't have much to comment on except:
1. Why is the lighting so...weird in this episode? It feels as though it's all taking place in a flashback or a dream or something unreal. It doesn't feel like the lighting matches the episode at all?
2. I love how the show doesn't just have Teyla go back right away to the team. They are honest to the conflict she has between her child and her team. As a working mom, I feel they handled that really well. I also like how John is pushing her to make the choice while being clear he will support her in whatever that choice is. I love this team so much.
3. I like that they didn't play the whole "Ronon can't be turned because he is too strong" card and instead allowed his character to become brainwashed. It helps us understand what happened with his Satedan friends as well as giving us a view as to why people become Wraith worshippers. I do wish that they'd had at least a throwback to The Lost Boys/ The Hive. It's not the first time the team has faced enzyme addiction.
4. Rodney telling random stories while keeping vigil over Ronon. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I just adore how much this team is always there for each other.
5. Dude, I want Rodney's bathtub! Did you see the tv screen he has there as well? Did the Ancients really have tubs like that? And what was it about the showers that scared Kanaan?
6. Some of my favorite lines came from Sheppard. Including: "I'm not taking a bath with you." "You know what would be unexpected and creepy? If you bowed instead." <---this may win as best line of the season.
