Writing and Reading Updates
Oct. 22nd, 2025 08:48 pmJust when I thought fandom was slowing down, all the stories are coming out. Maybe it's something to do with October?
nottasha is posting the third installment of her Ghosts story: Ghosts Vanishing into the Vaporous Void. (Written for the new challenge to write a spooky story with three Vs) gen
Tipper (
tippergreen ) wrote me a story for way back in the GenMayathon but it's 30 k words instead of 1k so just got finished. I'm ecstatic and loving the fic so far! gen Found (Bookend to Missing)
I'm working on my revision of Deep Down Below and it's basically becoming its own new story at this point. It's a lot of fun to write and thousands of times better than it was. I think my usual readers have mostly left fandom and I find myself still mostly writing for myself. ngl, it's kinda depressing because I like writing with community and I also feel I have a really good story I'm posting. Changing the narration has really opened a lot of doors for the characters and better hurt/comfort (as well as more John caring for his team). The story is gen but I might end up throwing in some John/Rodney hints and make it more ambiguous. Or hell, maybe even not ambiguous given the ending is the most I've ever had John go to save Rodney in any fic I've written. Like....wow, John, that was....far. And if I only have a handful of readers, maybe they won't care if I switch the tags so there's some McShep at the end anyway, especially if it's just at the end.
Thankfully I always have Cassiope25 and Mas_Sharp to keep me going :)
Oh! I did write a gen story after Trinity that takes a completely different turn than any Trinity story I've read. That one does actually seem to have some readers, which was a nice distraction. I wrote about Woolsey coming to talk to Elizabeth about the way she yelled at Rodney where everyone could hear. Blame to Share (gen). And that was great because....
Mas_Sharp liked the sandbox I created enough to write their own story. This time with John. Then, they liked it enough to write another installment, this one with snaked!Caldwell and his POV. It's now a collaboration series and I'll be writing Rodney's view. Cass might even write Radek's view. It's a completely different take on Trinity than most of the stories out there for sure and it's fun to have people inspired by my stories!
Person life right now is.... a lot. It's a lot of crisis mode right now. I lean into fandom whenever it feels that way. Maybe that's why I'm feeling the loneliness of people so not into my current longer story. (Which is probably why my posting has dropped from a goal of daily to now weekly. Motivation...ooooof)
