There is so much to love here:

1. The fight!  Oh, I just adored all of this.  Rodney wants to save Elizabeth so badly that he activates the nanites despite John's orders.  I could watch the scene where they are arguing about it so many times over and still want to watch it more.  I LOVE how they are both right in their own ways.

Rodney can't stand to see Elizabeth die but in breaking with orders he's done quite a few things here. He's betayed John's trust almost as a throwback to Arcturus. He's put the entire city in danger. He's reactivated replicators which is pretty darned terrifying.  Finally, he's forced John to make the even harder decision of purposely destryoing the nanites and killing Elizabeth which is all together different than just allowing her to die from nonintervention.

It's actually hard to fault John for much of anything here.  Rodney may feel he's not being listened to but John understands how Rodney works. He knows Rodney can't be 100% sure.  He knows how dangerous this is.

I think the best part of the fight is when John orders Rodney to turn off the nanites and Rodney gives his deer in the healights look and explains, "That will kill her." Finally he summons more courage and says, "No. No,  I'm not going to."  I love how he always raises his chin when he's in defiance mode.  As much as I know Rodney is wrong, I just love this so much.  The scene is true to each of them: John as the leader who makes a call that must be gutting him and then Rodney not willing to kill.  John doesn't hesitate to call for the EMP generator and in that moment so much could have happened.

It almost feels like the writers get a copout here when Elizabeth wakes up.  I want to know what Rodney would have done next.  Would he have stalked away? Would he have fought harder?  I don't know!  In my mind, John orders Rodney to the control room to get him out of the infirmary so John can do what must be done and save Rodney from being a part of it.  I don't see Rodney going very easily though.  I see so many scenarios and I really wish we'd had just a few more minutes before Elizabeth woke up to see what would have transpired between John and Rodney.

SOMEONE PLEASE WRITE THIS AU SCENE!!!!

I've heard there are many fanfics out there (not that I can find them) that make Rodney out to be right and John out to be a jerk from this but that really upsets me.  John is not being a jerk here.  He's making the hard call because he understands the consequences and he understands Elizabeth would agree.  That's not being a jerk.  That's being a good leader under awful circumstances.  If anything, Rodney is the problem here because he's allowed his heart to get in the way of what needs to happen.  It makes me have so much feels for both of them.

There are so many implications here.  One of them is that if Rodney was in similar circumstances we know John would have made the same call.  What I love about this team is that they will go to the ends of the world for each other.  What I love about this show is that the decisions are never easy and it's easy to make the wrong call for the right reasons and vice versa.  I've always pictured John as someone who would do anything at all to save Rodney no matter what harm it caused, but here we find a place where he isn't willing to go for Elizabeth and we suspect he wouldn't go even for Rodney.  It makes the show and the characters that much more real and yet heartbreaking.  I wonder if either of them realize this implication and if that might not fuel some of their own hurt in the situation.

So, Elizabeth wakes up.  It's one thing to use the pulse while she's still unconscious but now she's awake and she's real and John can't just kill her now.  I LOVE that so much.  Elizabeth gets it in the same way John knew she would.  She's terrified and knows it's a bad idea as well.  Yet somehow she's still there and she's alive for the moment.

Forward to when John keeps responding in anger to Rodney and Rodney finally says "This is stupid" and apologizes.  I could just melt right here because their friendship is such that they can work past this.  John accepts the apology and they move on.  It's the last we hear of it on the screen.  I love how Rodney apologizes, knowing they need to work together.  I just adore scenes where Rodney tries to be the better man.

I do have to wonder if that really is the end of the conversation  They do still have to deal with the fact John was in command and Rodney willfully disobeyed his orders putting everyone in great danger by reactivating the replicators.  Friendship and forgiveness aside, that really should come with some consequences. We are talking about replicators here, after all.  This is no small thing Rodney just did.

There must be consequences.  If not from John then at least from the IOA when the report comes out. Yes, it all worked out for Lifeline and it's the only reason they survived to get the ZPM, but how everything came about is a problem.  Especially given how high in the Atlantis Chain of Command Rodney is.  I can't imagine that these actions go unchecked?  It would probably be easier if it came from John if only to show the IOA that some action was taken.  I don't know what.  Suspension, probation, something!

I really want to read a fanfiction about this and I want the fanfiction to NOT have John as a jerk and to definitely have their friendship intact (even if strained).

2.  Ronon!  Sometimes he is the most awesome in the background.  I love when Sheppard and McKay are fighting how Ronon is walking up to them and then gets this look on his face like "uh...not part of this" before turning and walking away.

3.  Ronon and Teyla in the end scene.  Ronon puts his hand on Teyla's shoulder and she leans into him.  It's a beautiful comfort scene.

4.  I do like Keller.  I know so many people don't but I like how they introduced her as not wanting to take Carson's place.  I like how she is Rodney's conspirator here.  She will go far to save lives.  I think it goes a long way for me that she is willing to go so far to save Elizabeth.
