Migrating

This is why it is so important to migrate fics:

Yesterday I was reading a fic of mine I had completely forgotten. It had a version of John I don’t completely buy into but it was intriguing and a tag to The Eye (I could read 10000 The Eye Tags and still want more). It was a story I wrote but it was as though I was reading something I’d never seen before and I *liked* it.

This is one of the few fics I didn’t revise before migrating. It felt like a time capsule of my past, a piece forgotten. So here it is: Empty Stars.

Migrated fics don’t get read as much and I admit I sometimes don’t read them as much as new ones either. However, so many fics are getting lost out there and who knows how much longer ffn will even exist. There are several authors I can’t find stories for any more and others I don’t want to lose. AO3 is a great place for fics to be rescued from disappearing forever.   Not to mention reading any story on ffn is torture with the current ad structure. 

Tipper started migrating her fics to AO3 as well. They’re currently posting Bioluminescence which is a wonderful ghost story. I’m so glad I have these stories back to enjoy once again.


Although there are a few fics of mind I really feel disappearing into the void may be the best call, I think I’ll migrate those, too. People enjoyed them and there’s no reason to keep them from being able to access the story.  Maybe I’ll just post those ones anonymously.
