We're full halfway through May and I have yet to start my exchange fic for the
sga_genmayathon . But at least I did post one gen story! (My tiny Rodney one)
And a new podficcer just told me they are planing to podfic my recent story! Yay. I'm so excited. I can't say just how exciting it is when someone wants to podfic my stuff and I love listening to stories. My eyes have been funky lately when I'm tired, so I'm finding podfic listening is much easier that reading. I need to go get new glasses. Hopefully ones that won't give me the migraines my current ones do (and thus I don't wear them and deal with the blurry words which is probably not great for my eyes)
It's near the end of term! I can't wait to take a teaching break and hopefully have mounds of time for writing. As always, my mind is full of so many ideas including a sequel to a story collaboration I've been working on for two years. One would think I would finish the collab first, but not, my brain is full into the sequel. This has to be the first time it's taken me two years to write something.
I was thinking how odd it was that I managed to find a thriving sga community two years ago, right when I needed it the most. By all rights, this show is so old it shouldn't easily be finding a new audience, but it really has. I found a season six McShep story written in 2020 by Halestrom that had 888 kudos on it! and oh poor Atlas, the worlds a beast of burden. In 2020! It's a good fic so far, but it's really really really long so we'll see if I manage through it. My patience isn't very long these days and I fall into skimming when fics get over 60k. My own fics seem to be doing well enough to keep me feeling supported and part of a community, which to me is an important part of fandom. So now I'm reflecting on nearly two years in fandom and feeling...so happy it's here. Beyond all reason, hope, or expectations.
It looks like I'm getting my daughter's ADHD coach back as she moved to a direct care model. She went out of network a few years ago and it was too expensive, but now she's foregoing insurance entirely and I can afford her "subscription" fee for the whole family. Which means maybe *I* can get some good ADHD coaching as well.
