Day 2

 Day two!  I'm writing here again. Yay. I remembered.  See Dreamwidth is really hard for me to remember. It's not like Discord that gives me reminders it exists. Dreamwidth is in the drawer I only remember to open when I realize it's been forever since I've opened that drawer.

So what am I up to?

I'm betaing an amazing story and so excited to get to beta it.

I'm still working on Deep Down Below and I think I finally have the next chapter in my mind worked out. It is so not at all like the original chapter...whoops.

I keep meaning to remember to read books. Like actual books that aren't fanfiction. I mostly forget books exist. I have several books I really want to read and I start them, but then I forget they exist. I am enjoying reading to my youngest. We are reading The Vanderbeekers of 41st Street. It's a kids novel about a family getting evicted and the kids trying to convince the grumpy landlord to let them stay. Neither of my older kids would read the book with me, so I'm excited to read it now.

My eldest is reading Murderbot. She's fairly far into the series and I just now finished book two.  At first she didn't like it, but the whole series has grown on her. 

So anyway, I did it. I wrote. I'm here!  Yay.

Yes, I miss the days of LJ when everyone was on there all the time and I had lots of meaningful conversation. Maybe I can build up my DW community more by posting more.

I had to join a non-fandom Book Club to make myself read non-fandom things... Some of the choices are things I'd never read, which is good for me in general. But it's a 'real' book club in that we read the books, the leader brings questions to prod us along when we don't know what to say, and keeps us honest. It's kind of cool. And it gives me other intelligent women in my life...

Oh, a book club sounds fun! I am just starting my writing group so I'm focusing on that, but I would love to do a reading group as long as the books they chose weren't awful.

It can be really hard to get used to pro fiction again after fanfic. I sometimes find it's too much work to get invested in the characters so I DNF a lot more. But the good ones are still really good!

I find protection often just isn't as written as well. Other times, it's definitely I second DNF because I don't know the characters yet. However, I really want to finish reading Brandon Sanderson's series The Stoplight Archives and I am heavily invested in those characters, but because it's been so long, I just can't get the motivation to finish.

I'd be happy in my fanfiction world, but it's been so dry lately and I apparently only want to read Rodney right now. Ugh. Stupid brain and its hyper focus tendencies.

I need to find a good short book to read next. Maybe the next Murderbot book.
